The commitment of citizens is what gave rise to the Übersee-Museum. Just as Bremen citizens and merchants laid the foundation for the collections of today’s Übersee-Museum in the 19th century, the Friends of the Übersee-Museum e.V. now offers interested individuals the opportunity to support the museum and its projects.

Since 1985, the members of the Friends of the Übersee-Museum have supported the museum with the goal of contributing to its collection and further development, as well as promoting its appeal. Through its contributions, the association helps bring individual projects, exhibitions, and the restoration of artifacts to fruition. New members – individuals, families, companies, or institutions – are always welcome.

Become a VIP

Members of the Friends of the Museum enjoy free admission to the museum’s exhibitions and receive personal invitations to all exhibition openings. Exclusive curator-led tours, group outings with the Friends of the Museum, and insights into the museum’s work are all part of the VIP package. The museum’s programs, published several times a year, are also delivered free of charge.

Overview of annual fees:

  • Single person 45,- €
  • Pupils, students 25,- € (with ID)
  • Families 60,- €
  • Company 100,- € (max. 2 person)

Sponsor

Anyone who would like to get more involved with the Übersee-Museum beyond membership in the Friends’ Association can also become a patron of the Friends’ Association of the Übersee-Museum. You’ll also have the opportunity to take part in free guided tours of the museum’s special exhibitions or get to know the museum even better through exclusive “behind-the-scenes” tours. If you book a private guided tour, you’ll also receive a 20 percent discount.

Donors

An invitation for two people allows donors in the Friends of the Übersee-Museum to engage in conversation once a year with the museum’s leadership and other special guests in a small, intimate setting. In addition to this personal exchange, you will be named in the museum’s lobby and on this website upon request – and will receive a 30 percent discount on private guided tours.
