What would the museum be without them—the exhibits and collection items? There are 1.2 million original artifacts from all over the world that, as “witnesses to history,” bring history to life at the Übersee-Museum, shed light on cultural and natural history contexts, and enable us to gain new insights. But preserving them for future generations is a complex undertaking. Restoration and taxidermy require a high degree of expertise and the appropriate equipment.

Caring for and Monitoring ExhibitsMaking Exhibitions Possible

Under the motto “Museums Need Friends – Exhibits Need Sponsors” the Übersee-Museum is therefore seeking people who would like to contribute financially to the preservation and restoration of individual exhibits. In doing so, you will support the Übersee-Museum in fulfilling its educational mission and serving as a place for lifelong learning and intercultural exchange. Sponsorships ranging from 50 to 10,000 euros are available. We would be happy to advise you personally on the possibilities of becoming a sponsor.

Benefits for “sponsor parents”:

  • Mention by name in media coverage of the Übersee-Museum
  • A photo and a brief description of the “sponsor child” is sent to the “sponsor parent”
  • For sponsorship amounts of €10,000 or more, rights to use the company’s own media
  • Donation certificate
