Your wishes and ideas are needed

Maybe you have already heard: The team of the Übersee-Museum has written a “future concept”. It states, for example, that the Übersee-Museum will become a “living room for society”. It’s a place where people from Bremen and all over the world meet, where they can spend time, talk and discuss with each other, rest, learn, play or even work. We have already collected some ideas on how this can look – but your ideas are still missing! It is important to us to also see the museum “through your eyes” in order to be able to consider children’s wishes in the later “new Übersee-Museum”.

The “Favorite Place Challenge”

That’s why we would be delighted if you took part in our ideas competition. If you are between the ages of 6 and 12, think about this: where would be your favorite place in the museum? How does it look like there? What would you like to do there and who are you there with? Paint, build and photograph or write your ideas down and email it to zukunft@uebersee-museum.de by April 20. You are also welcome to send us your picture, collage, or model by post or drop off your contribution at the museum box office. Don’t forget to ask your parents to fill out the contest consent form and send it along.

Thank you for your participation

For this, we have come up with something special: all submissions will be shown in the museum and a children’s jury will select the five most beautiful entries. The presentation and award ceremony will take place on International Children’s Day on June 1, 2022 at the Übersee-Museum. All participants with their (grand)parents and siblings are invited to the event. You can look forward to a varied afternoon with children’s program in any case! If you can’t be there on this date don’t worry – all participants will also receive a family ticket for a visit at the Übersee-Museum on their preferred date.

Important facts at a glance

• The deadline for entries is April 20, 2022.
• Entries to the ideas challenge can be sent by e-mail to zukunft@uebersee-museum.de, sent by post to the adress: Übersee-Museum Bremen, Bildung und Vermittlung, Bahnhofsplatz 13, 28195 Bremen, Germany or handed in at the museum box office.
• In order for all entries to be considered, each must be accompanied by a completed consent to participate form.
• For entries submitted by post or at the museum box office, the maximum size is 80 x 40 x 60 centimetres.
• The results will be exhibited at the Übersee-Museum, presented on our website and social media channels, and possibly mentioned and shown as part of press coverage of the “Favorite Place Challenge.” Only the first name and age of the participants will be published, unless otherwise requested and agreed upon by the museum.
• There is no entitlement to the implementation of submitted competition entries in the Übersee-Museum.
• Unfortunately, children of museum employees and members of the children’s jury cannot participate in the ideas challenge.
• All submissions can be picked up at the Museum Box Office after being presented at the Museum before summer vacation, between July 12 and July 15, 2022.
