Special exhibition “Buddhism”

Starts on October 14, 2023

Buddhism is one of the great religious traditions of mankind. Meditation, mindfulness, yoga – many Buddhist practices have found their way into our everyday lives today. But where do the beginnings of Buddhism lie? How did it spread around the world and what is its attraction for Western audiences?

Using around 250 exhibits from the museum’s collection, the special exhibition “Buddhism” traces the unbroken fascination for this world religion. From magnificent Buddha figures to intricately crafted textiles and ritual objects: Visitors can expect extraordinary highlights from Myanmar, Thailand, the Silk Road region, China, Japan and Tibet. Many of these valuable treasures were previously stored in the museum’s stacks and can now be seen again in an exhibition.
