The Blue continent – Islands in the Pacific

Oceania is far away for us? Only geographically. Germany has a close connection and responsibility because of its colonial past. As an industrialised country, we have played a major role in causing climate change, which could soon cause the first atolls to sink into the sea. This booklet aims to show these connections and the endangered wealth of culture and nature. Just like the other projects of “The Blue Continent” – the online platform blue-continent.de and the exhibitions in Apia (Samoa) and the Bremen Overseas Museum – it was created in international co-operation with a variety of perspectives. Because nothing is more exciting than leaving your own walls and really listening to the other side.
