My AITU GAFA storytelling through Fashion and Art

Lindah Lepou is a Fa’afafine (transgender) Artist, weaving her ancient Samoan (and palagi) Gafa (genealogy) into tangible Pacific couture, while she transcends Western binaries and religious constructs, using art to claim indigenous sovereignty. Her work is a ritualistic preservation of identity, redefining the Fa’afafine experience as a multidimensional gender archetype that transports and transforms. This session reveals how her unique Gafa informs her storytelling, bridging ancestral spirit and cultural survival for future generations.
