Booking

Would you like to register yourself, a group or a school class for an event? Do you have questions about the Übersee-Museum’s mediation offers? Do you have a question about your booking? Then feel free to contact our education and mediation team.

The Übersee-Museum offers guided tours on topics such as nature, trade, ethnology, and current special exhibitions. In light of the Corona pandemic, pre-registration is required for private group tours and tours for school groups.

Guided tours in English, French or Spanish can be organised depending on the date and theme.

Information on booking and registration

How do you book an event?

Please send us your request to the following address: anmeldung@uebersee-museum.de.

Let us know your preferred date, time, format/topic as well as the approximate group size and a contact person with contact details.

We are available by phone Monday to Thursday from 9am to 4pm on T 0421 160 38 - 555. If we do not answer the phone at any time, you are also welcome to send us a callback request by e-mail. We will get back to you as soon as possible.

When booking, please agree whether you would like to pay at the museum box office or by invoice on the day of the event.

When should the registration be received by the museum?

We recommend registering at least four weeks before the planned visit. Especially if you want to come with your group just before the start of the holidays or for a special theme, it is advisable to make a booking even further in advance so that we can realise your desired date.

How many people can attend an event?

Guided tours can be conducted with up to 30 people. However, for groups of 25 people or more, we recommend dividing the group and holding two events in parallel or one after the other. The workshops (gamelan, drumming) are usually only available in smaller groups of max. 13 persons per group can be carried out.

Two accompanying persons per group (school, adults) receive free admission. Additional accompanying persons are admitted free of charge if they are accompanying persons for people with impairments or accompanying persons of the socio-educational school support. Each additional accompanying person pays the regular museum admission.

For kindergarten groups, one accompanying person per five children receives free admission.

Can events be rebooked?

If you wish to change a booking, please contact us as early as possible at anmeldung@uebersee-museum.de or T 0421 160 38 - 555. An event can be rebooked once free of charge up to 7 days before the agreed date. For further rebookings as well as a rebooking that takes place less than 7 days before the originally agreed date, we charge a service fee of € 5 per rebooking in addition to the event price.

Can booked events be cancelled?

An event can be cancelled free of charge up to 7 days before the agreed date. In the event of cancellation less than 7 days before the agreed date, or in the event of no-show by the group, the full amount for the booked event (less entrance fees) will be charged.

Would you like to discover the museum on your own without a guided tour?

If you would like to visit the museum with your group without a guided tour or similar, registration is not necessary. However, it does help us to plan and manage high visitor numbers. Therefore, please register your group about 5 working days in advance: anmeldung@uebersee-museum.de.
